How to reach Palencia by car

If you come from the Madrid Airport, the easiest way is to reach the A1 highway north, (direction Burgos) as soon as you leave the airport (depending where you start from, maybe you find a small toll for some km.). The rest of A1 highway has no toll. When you reach Aranda de Duero, km 150. aprox., you have to divert to a national road to Palencia, just follow the signs. You can be there in 2.5 hours and have several options to make a stop in your way. (for example, in the km. 114-115, Boceguillas, you have different options for rest)

The other option is to search for A6, (direction La Coruña, changing to A62 in Tordesillas) then you will have highway all the way to Palencia. You will have to pay around 15 euros for crossing the Guadarrama tunnel.

Traffic signs are quite good in Spain and is easy to find your way if you follow them. Anyway, the best planner for car is Google Maps, where you can also check exact destination and fuel costs. Remember highway maximum speed is 120 km/h (probably you won´t get fined until 130) and 90 in normal roads. In the city 50 km/h is the limit for most places.
